AAR’s Cheryle R. Jackson Joins White House ‘Doing Business in Africa’ Forum
Aerospace exec shares Company’s strategies for tapping opportunities in sub-Saharan region
WOOD DALE, Illinois – Cheryle R. Jackson, Vice President of Government Affairs and Corporate Development for AAR (NYSE: AIR), was among key government, business and international trade leaders who convened in Washington on Wednesday for the “Doing Business in Africa” forum. Sponsored by the White House Business Council, the one-day conference was an extension of President Obama’s Africa initiative announced late last year. Speakers and panelists talked about how to overcome challenges and empower U.S. businesses to identify and capitalize on opportunities.
Dr. Rebecca Blank, Acting Secretary of Commerce, gave opening remarks and Valerie Jarrett, Senior Advisor to the President, delivered the White House welcome.
Jackson was a leader of the breakout session, “How to Get Started in Sub-Saharan Africa,” along with Lisa Phillip, President, Hybas International, and Antwaun Griffin, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Domestic Operations, International Trade Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce.
“At AAR, we applaud the administration’s efforts to demystify business opportunities in this important but largely untapped, undervalued market,” Jackson said. “As one of the world’s leading providers of supply chain, logistics and expeditionary airlift for commercial and defense customers, Africa holds great potential for AAR to raise its visibility and generate new sources of revenue.”
In the past year, Jackson has played an integral role in developing government, business and civic relationships in Africa to expand business and drive AAR’s double-digit sales growth.
